The reading room was designed as a space that's not only a fun place to read but also one full of unique activities. From slam poetry to cultural fashion shows, patrons can express their diverse backgrounds while learning about their colleagues'. Since the reading room is located in the Los Angeles State Historic Park, it aims to blur the lines between indoor and outdoor space while also providing public and (more or less) private space. The spiraling wood structure also fosters a dynamic environment and circulation system where everyone is encouraged to participate and engage with one another.
